Cattle buyer Gene Autry travels to Texas when their cattle trails to Kansas are hindered and researches what is behind the blockage. In Texas he meets up with his friend, 'Buckeye' Buttram and pretty gal Gay Kendall. Kendall is a newspaper reporter who is on the homesteader’s side regarding a rancher-settlers altercation initiated by explorer Steve Ruttledge. He wants a certain piece of land that will prosper once the railroad is created and has high hopes in supervising it.
