Lin McAdam (James Stewart) receives a valuable Winchester rifle after winning a marksmanship contest. Dutch Henry Brown (Stephen McNally) who came right behind McAdam in the contest steals the rifle from him. McAdam chases Brown to get what is his and they end up in a shoot-out for the rifle.
