Gary Mitchell is an arrogant singer who declines to renew his contract at his radio job, so Doug Blake finds someone else to take his place. He goes to New York where he discovers Martha Gibson, who is a single mother with a great voice for radio. He brings her to Hollywood where he tries to make her a star, yet nothing is going his way. As they work more together, he begins to fall in love with her. Yet, when she encounters Gary, she is instantly attracted to him.
