This film centers on the life of two friends that reunite following the end of the Civil War and how different their lives have become after they are done serving in the army. One of the men has psychological issues stemming from the war and has a difficult time coping with his new life. His behavior turns violent and inconsistent as his friend tries to find a way to help him. And to add more conflict they both fall in love with he same woman, Caroline Emmett.
