This film centers on a Soviet cipher clerk named Igor Gouzenka played by Dana Andrews, who is stationed in Ottawa and begins to feel disappointment over his birth country, the Soviet Union. He has all of his family back in the USSR and has to watch his every move since the Soviet NKVD can easily do harm to his family. Igor goes through many struggles in Canada and discovers how horrible the USSR is by staying in Canada.
