Polly is an exuberant teen whose dad is the skipper of a luxury liner.  She tries to convince her dad to take her on a cruise to Rio and he disagrees, wanting her to stay in her dull boarding-school.  She secretly jumps on board the ship and encounters Laura , an opera star that she looks up to since she wants to be a singer.   Laura is interested in Polly’s father, so she tries to pair them up together.
