Frank Wiecek is sentenced to life in prison in 1932 for supposedly killing a cop. P.J. O’Neal is a Chicago newspaper reporter who takes notice of a newspaper ad by Frank's mother and begins to look into the case. He has always believed Wiecek to be guilty but begins to change his mind when the authorities are unwilling to provide information.
