Fletcher Markle from Canada created Studio One at the age of 26, a dramatic radio show with an adaptation of Malcom Lowry's "Under the Volcano ". It presented adaptations such as "Dodsworth", " Pride and Prejudice ", " The Red Badge of Courage " and "Ah, Wilderness". Some famous performers appearing on the program included, John Garfield, Walter Huston, Mercedes McCambridge, Burgess Meredith and Robert Mitchum.
