Phil Brant and Janet Thayar have just eloped, but problems come their way when Phil is the main suspect in the murder of band leader, Tommy Drake. He was killed at a society dance which Nick and Nora attended, so they ask them for their help. Nick doesn’t want to keep him in his house, so he calls the police. Nick and Nora find out that Drake wasn’t very popular and owed money to Al Amboy. Another person suspicious of the crime is Janet’s father who could have framed Phil since he didn’t like him. Nick and Nora plan for another party on the same boat to see if they can find answers to all the possibilities.
