A son of a policeman, Billy Reilly writes an essay planning to enter a contest that offers a baseball glove for the best essay written on an important person.  He visits the library looking for an idea when he meets a man who suggests instead of researching someone in a book to write about he should just look around him at everyday people he meets.  Later when Billy is playing ball, he breaks someone's window by mistake which gives him an idea of who to write on for his essay.
