A repository agent on board a ship confesses to one of the passengers that happen to be Charlie Chan, that he's on the path of a fraudulent ring working from the South Pacific. Two attempts have been made on his life and he has managed to survive both. Chan assists him in dodging a third attempt but is debilitated to obstruct a dagger shot in his back in the. Charlie has high hopes in catching the killer even though the ship will be stopping soon in Samoa.
