A recently murdered gangster is sent to Hell where his repeated attempts to escape bring him to the attention of 'Nick', the head man.  Nick offers the gangster an opportunity to get out of Hell if he will take over the body of a judge, who has been sending too many people to Hell, and get him to do some bad things.  The gangster takes the offer and, when he inhabits the judge’s body, finds that he can’t seem to do anything bad and he also falls in love with the judge’s fiancée.
