Russ Evans (Richard Arlen), A World War II pilot discharged from the army, decides to check up on the widow of an old war buddy of his, Elaine Graham (Mary Beth Hughes). He finds her singing part time in a night club to help pay the bills, as the logging company she inherited from her husband is doing poorly. But Elaine gets an order in for a huge shipment of lumber, which could save the company form a slimy businessman who wants to take it over. Russ and his friend Squirrel (George E. Stone) volunteer to help her cut the timber for the shipment, along with her fellow night club friends Smacksie Golden (Sheldon Leonard) and his girlfriend Lil Boggs (June Havoc). Some comedic moments ensue as the night club residents work in the harsh outdoors doing physical labor. The group is under the clock to deliver the shipment in time by a plane piloted by Russ, before the company falls to the businessman. An under-rated, highly enjoyable film with a great cast and witty dialogue.
