The Texas Ranger Series. In this western who-done-it a mysterious rider, known as the Whispering Skull, commits murder and then rides away on a horse that makes no noise. The sheriff says he knows who the Skull is and heads out to make the arrest only to be shot in the back. Ore samples containing diamonds appear to be involved as well. There are many suspects, all of whom could be the Skull, but the mysterious rider's identity is not revealed until the movies final scene.
