John Foster is the leader of Emmerson Foundation and is interviewed by reporter Patsy Reynolds and photographer Eddie Porter surrounding a listening apparatus the group is currently working on. Foster eludes them to the lab where Professor Reynolds, the real inventor is working on the device. Strange things start to happen when guns are fired and a dead body appears. They lose their jobs and are seen as the murderers or suitors for being killed.
