Scott Henderson is an unhappily married man who spends the evening with a woman wearing a hat he met at the bar. He discovers his wife strangled when he returns home and becomes the main suspect in her murder. He is unable to find an alibi since no one seems to remember the woman wearing the hat. His loyal secretary Kansas begins to find clues.
