This film is set during World War II, where a ship and German U-boat battle each other in the Atlantic and sink. The survivors consist of an international journalist, a wealthy businessman, the radio operator, a nurse, a steward, a sailor and a communist engineer who all gather onto one lifeboat. Problems arise when they help a man out of the water, but he is a German sailor from the U-boat.
