Radio singing star Roy Rogers returns home for a special radio appearance to find his hometown embroiled in a range feud between the local cattlemen and sheepmen. When Roy's friend is killed, he starts an investigation that finds the rifle used in the crime belongs to a ranch hand named Barker, whose cattleman boss Victor Marsh (Paul Kelly) might very well be the true instigator of the feud. Roy decides to become deputized so that he has the authority to stop Marsh and his goons from causing any further local bloodshed.
