Norma Lawry fears that her stepdaughter Barbara is involved with a theatrical has been actor, Paul who has nothing but bad intentions, so she goes to his apartment to ask him to leave her alone. She knows of what she speaks, as Paul and Norma are former lovers. Once at the apartment Norma finds the actor dead. By chance Barbara catches her there and believes that her step mother, in a jealous rage, did the killing. Norma goes to her blind detective friend, Captain Duncan McClain, who starts to investigate and discovers that not all is what it seems. German spies were behind the murder!
