John Carteret is a lonesome and depressed man, for his soon to be wife Moonyean was killed at their wedding a while back. Her five-year old niece Kathleen moves in with him and she grows up to look just like Moonyean. Kathleen ends up falling in love with Kenneth Wayne, whose father Jeremy was the one who killed Moonyean. John despises Kenneth for this, but comes to terms with it.
