A small Balkan country is in the grips of a cruel despot, Count Gurko Lanen, who has taken over the throne from the rightful ruler, Grand Duchess Zona. The visiting Count of Monte Cristo, acting as an epicurean dandy banker, works to help the Grand Duchess in her cause by becoming a masked avenger.
