The film is set in Death Valley during 1892, where the Borax ore are shrinking, which is no good news for the company since there is no money being made. Wallace Beery plays Bill who has a high grade Borax that will save the company, but has buried the pouch of Borax on the road in which Roper believes the value to be worth millions. The only problem is that the pouch of Borax was given to Bill by a dead prospector, so they need to find the claim in order to record and become wealthy partners. Little does Bill know that Roper does not want to share any of the wealth with Bill and is interested in Jean.
