After Billy the Kid is killed off by Pat Garrett, Roy comes into town who looks just like Billy the Kid. The townspeople believe he is Billy the Kid at first sight. Even though Billy murdered people, he was always loyal to the homesteaders and against the large ranchers. Roy convinces Garrett to let him pretend to be Billy the Kid, for no one is aware of his death yet. This way he can help the homesteaders without murdering anyone.
