An insurance company hires Private Detective Jim Hanvey to recover a stolen emerald necklace. Jim Hanvey is a pleasant and great detective who has withdrawn to his country home. An insurance company enlists his help to find an emerald that has disappeared so they will not have to pay the $100,000 for insurance on the emerald. He quickly finds the missing emerald, but realizes that his job is not done when he cannot find the right person to return the emerald to. He ends up intertwined in a murder, where the wrong man is suspected of the murder.
