Gene is left to die in the desert after being robbed. He is rescued when he takes hold of a wild horse and rides it. He takes advantage of the horse by having the horse call other horses to compete in the government contract race. His adversary, Ford was the one who robbed him and left him for dead and continues to make sure Gene does not win.
