They are assaulted at the California border as they miss the lead wagon train, yet Captain Tex Autry and his group come to their rescue. Lettie does not trust Tex and thinks he is being rude for criticizing them on their ways of traveling. So she calls Colonel Seward at Fort Henry to complain about Tex. Later on that night, horses are taken from the station by radicals sent by Buck LaCrosse and Utah Joe. Tex goes after them but is taken into custody since he is seen as the main culprit. Frog and Buffalo come to Tex’s rescue and help him to escape. He goes after the wagon train.
