Wertheimer is a New York radio talent scout. He decides to appear at Uncle Jed’s barn dance, for Nancy Shackelford has sent him many letters informing him on how musically talented Bob and the other four farmers are. He appoints the guys for his new radio show he is going to name "The Old Homestead" live from New York. Nancy and Uncle Jed travel with the boys as their manager. The show is instantly popular and Nancy is more than happy, for she gets to meet famous singer Rudy Nash. Elsie Wilson, Rudy's companion is not too happy with how attentive Rudy is with Nancy. Bob instantly resents Rudy.
