Just after fixing up his ranch before his daughter Bess' arrival, Dan Matthews is shot and killed by outlaws that take refuge on his ranch. Sheriff John Higgins arrives shortly after in pursuit of the bandits and after a shootout, the bandits flee. After Higgins searches the ranch, he finds the body of Dan Matthews, who was his best friend. Falsely believing that he killed his best friend, Higgins gives his badge back to the previous sheriff, Ed Williams. Higgins dedicates his life to finding the outlaws and leaves town, taking up with a band of Indians after rescuing the chief's son. After a while, Higgins, looking very wild indeed from his time with the Indians, rescues Bess and he is convinced to help her take over and run her father's ranch. Higgins and Bess begin a relationship, but back in town, meddling Joe Dickson tells Bess that Higgins killed her father. Will Higgins be able to clear his name, win back the woman he loves and avenge his best friend?
Notes:
