Harriet Green is a bright musical hall star during the Edwardian era, but has a secret which is she has a baby daughter without being married. She travels to South Africa to raise her daughter without anyone knowing. Many years pass by and her daughter Harriet Hawkes goes back to London in hoping to make it in show business. Tommy is a publicist who finds her to look just like her famous mother and stars her in a new show about Harriet Green.
