Dan Hardesty is a smooth killer who is taken in by police detective Steve Burke in Hong Kong and they board the SS Maloa headed for San Francisco. There, he begins a romance with Joan Ames, a socialite who is dying. They find their time together is going fast and promise each other to meet at a Mexican night club on New Year’s Eve. Both realize this will be hard to see through when they part ways in San Francisco.
