Trader Horn is the first non-documentary film shot on location in Africa.

Trader Horn and Peru discover Edith Trent killed by natives during a safari in Africa. They continue her quest and find her daughter Nina, but she is the queen of a dangerous tribe. The twosome is determined to bring her back to civilization.

Edwina Booth, the female lead, contracted a career-ending illness while shooting, for which she sued producers Irving Thalberg and MGM Studios.
