The last words she muttered were "The Speckled Band!" Her sister Helen becomes engaged soon afterwards, and the unscrupulous doctor finds the engagement as loss of money, for she is up for the yearly allowance as well. He sends her to begin sleeping in her sister’s bedroom and when she discovers the bed fastened to the floor, she begins to worry about her safety after what had happened to Violet. She asks the inhabitants of 221 Baker Street for their assistance.
