Immanuel Rath is a single and old professor at the local university. He soon realizes that some of his students go to a saloon, The Blue Angel, to see a dancer by the name of Lola. He goes to the saloon to call the attention on them, yet finds Lola attractive. The following evening he goes to the saloon again and gets no sleep that night. The lack of sleep affects him at work and his life starts going downward.
