Mahlon Keane is a tough mobster in control of most crime in New York City. He encounters a former society girl named Rhoda who has no money and helps her cheat at a game of poker. She needs the money to help alcoholic concert violinist Tony Vaughan regain his health. Keane helps Rhoda by bringing Vaughan back in the public eye with his performances. Rhoda is in love with Vaughan, but agrees to marry Keane. She’s stuck in a dilemma when Vaughan confesses his love for her.
