Dedicated journalist Alice Woods tries to get a story on ousted boxing champ Paul Martin, who refuses to see her. Doggedly determined, Alice tracks down Paul at the speakeasy that he frequents but he still refuses to talk to her. Alice fabricates the story completely, talking about the boxer’s planned comeback. During her dealings with Paul, she determines that she is falling for him, and that his manager is planning to sell him out. Alice is able to convince Paul of this and he re-enters the ring. With Alice's help and encouragement, he is able to win back his title.
John Wayne is visible briefly as a patron of the speakeasy.
