Wilfrid Hyde-White was born on May 12th, 1903 in Bourton-on-the Water, in England and after graduating from High School he enrolled at Marlborough College and later attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

He then began finding work as a stage actor and debuted in 1922 in, "Tons of Money" which he followed with working for about three years as a stage actor.  He then toured throughout South Africa and after a couple more years of gaining stage experience he broke into the film industry.

His film debut was in 1934 on, "Josser on the Farm" and alternated between film and stage work for a number of years.  Some of his more well known roles included, "Turned Out Nice Again" (1941), "The Third Man" (1949) starring alongside Joseph Cotten, Alida Valli, Orson Welles and Trevor Howard, "Trio" (1950) also starring James Hayter, Nigel Patrick, Jean Simmons, Michael Rennie and Kathleen Harrison, "Let's Make Love" (1960) co-starring Marilyn Monroe, Yves Montand, Frankie Vaughan and Tony Randall, "My Fair Lady" (1964) which won eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Director and starring Audrey Hepburn, Rex Harrison, Stanley Holloway and Gladys Cooper and "Get Christie Love!" He is remembered for his stage appearances in, "The Reluctant Debutante" (1957) and "The Jockey Club Stakes" (1973), two roles for which he received a nomination for Broadway's Tony Award for Best Actor.

Towards the end of his career he made a comeback on the television series, "Ben Casey", "Columbo", "The Associates", "Fantasy Island", "Father Murphy" and "Laverne and Shirley".

Hyde-White married twice throughout his lifetime, first to Blanche Glynne in 1927 and they had one child before the marriage came to an end in 1948.  He then wed Ethel Koreman in 1957 and they had two children together and remained married until he passed away on may 6th, 1991 at the age of eighty seven in Woodland Hills, California after suffering from congestive heart failure.
