WARREN STEVENS BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Warren Stevens was born on November 2nd, 1919 in Clark's Summit, Pennsylvania with the birth name Warren Albert Stevens. At the age of seventeen he joined the United States Navy and it was during his service that he first developed an interest in acting. He was attending Annapolis and participated in a twelve week summer stock program in Virginia.
Later he joined the United States Air Force and once completing his service he began to turn his focus on a career in acting. He first found work in Radio and did summer stock before being given the chance to join the New York Actors Studio.
He began gaining some experience on Broadway with a role in, "The Life of Galileo" (1947) and "Detective Story" and which caught the eyes of Hollywood directors. 20th Century Fox offered him a contract and he began appearing on a number of films such as, "The Frogmen" (1951) starring Richard Widmark, Gary Merrill, Robert Wagner, Dana Andrews and Jeffrey Hunter, "Phone Call from a Stranger" (1952) starring Gary Merrill, Keenan Wynn, Shelley Winters, Bette Davis and Michael Rennie, "Wait Till the Sun Shines, Nellie" (1952) starring Jean Peters, David Wayne, Hugh Marlowe and Albert Dekker, "Gorilla at Large" (1954) starring Cameron Mitchell, Anne Bancroft, Lee J. Cobb, Raymond Burr and Lee Marvin, "Forbidden Planet" (1956) starring Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, Leslie Nielsen and Jack Kelly, "The Barefoot Contessa" (1954) starring Humphrey Bogart, Ava Gardner and Edmond O'Brien, "The Man From Bitter Ridge" (1955) starring Lex Barker, Mara Corday, Stephen McNally and John Dehner and "The Long, Hot Summer" (1965) starring Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, Angela Lansbury, Anthony Franciosa, Lee Remick and Orson Welles.
Along with film work he really made more of a name for himself as a television actor adding such credits as, "Tales of the 77th Bengal Lancers", "The United States Steel Hour", "Route 66", "Bob Hope Presents", "Perry Mason", "77 Sunset Strip", "Cannon", "Wagon Train", "Medic", "Suspense", "Climax!" and "The Mod Squad" among many others.
Warren Stevens married twice, first to Susan Tucker Huntington in 1942 and they had one child before the marriage came to an end. He then married Barbara French in 1969 and they had two children and remained together until he passed away on March 27th, 2012 in Sherman Oaks, California after suffering from respiratory failure from lung disease.
