Warren Beatty ACTOR

Warren Beatty was born on March 30th, 1937 in Richmond, Virginia with the birth name Henry Warren Beaty.  His mother, Kathlyn was a drama teacher and his mother always had hopes and dreams that both her children would pursue a career in entertainment.  His father, Ira Owens Beaty, was a professor of psychology, a public school administrator, and a real estate agent  His sister, Shirley MacLaine is also an accomplished and acclaimed actress.

Beatty attended high school in Arlington, Virginia and then went on to pursue his higher education at Northwestern University studying acting and directing, however after only completing one year of studies, he dropped out to study acting with Stella Adler.  He even turned down 10 scholarships for football to pursue his love of acting.
In 1959 Beatty was cast in his first television role in the sitcom, "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" starring with Dwayne Hickman, Bob Denver, Tuesday Weld, Sheila James Kuehl and Frank Faylen.  Along with his television role he also worked on stage on Broadway and soon was cast in a major film role in the drama, "Splendor in the Grass" (1961) co-starring Natalie Wood with Pat Hingle, Gary Lockwood, Sandy Dennis and Phyllis Diller.  Some of his other film roles were in, "Mickey One" (1965) with Alexandra Stewart, Hurd Hatfield, Jeff Corey and Franchot Tone, "Promise Her Anything" (1965) starring with Leslie Caron, Robert Cummings, Hermione Gingold and Keenan Wynn and "Bonnie and Clyde" (1967) alongside Faye Dunaway, Michael J. Emmet Walsh, for which he won a Best Director Award.
The early 80's were very slow for him until he returned to the big screen with, "Ishtar" (1987) co-starring Jack Warden, Charles Grodin and Isabelle Adjani, which was a huge box office failure, however he rebounded with, "Dick Tracy" (1990) also starring Al Pacino, Charles Durning, Madonna Ciccone, Dustin Hoffman, William Forsythe, Glenne Headly, R.G. Armstrong, Paul Sorvino, Henry Silva, Dick Van Dyke, Charlie Korsmo, James Caan and Michael J. Warren Beatty married only once to Annette Bening on March 3rd, 1992 and they remain married today and have four children together, Kathlyn, Benjamin, Isabel and Ella.  In 2004 he was a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors and in 2005 Premier Magazine ranked him #29 on a list of the Greatest Movie Stars of All Time.  He has also won four Golden Globe Awards including the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

Only Warren Beatty and Orson Welles have been nominated for producer, director, writer and actor in the same film. Welles did it once for "Citizen Kane", and Beatty did it twice, for "Heaven Can Wait" and "Reds" and Warren has been nominated for an Academy Award 15 times.
