WANDA HENDRIX BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Wanda Hendrix was born on November 3rd, 1928 in Jacksonville, Florida with the birth name Dixie Wanda Hendrix to parents Max Sylvester Hendrix and Mary Bailley. As a young girl she became involved with the local youth theater and it was there that a talent scout spotted her and suggested her family relocate to California and attempt pursuing a career for Hendrix in acting.
Immediately upon relocating she was given decent star roles with Warner Brothers films. She was cast in, "Confidential Agent" (1945) followed by a role in, "Nora Prentiss" (1947). She was then hire by Paramount for the film, "Welcome Stranger" (1947) and then paramount signed Hendrix to a contract and cast her right away in the film, "Ride the Pink Horse" (1947).
As her career progressed she worked on a couple more films such as, "Miss Tatlock's Millions" (1948), "My Own True Love" (1949), "Sierra" (1950), "Captain Carey, U.S.A." (1950), "The Highwayman" (1951) and "Highway Dragnet" (1954).
She briefly retired from acting in 1954 to work on her 2nd marriage, but after a 2nd troubled marriage and divorce, Hendrix returned back to the industry and tried to continue climbing up the ladder of stardom. Even with roles on television, stage and the big screen, she was never quite able to achieve the level of success she aimed for. She did have a couple more roles in the 1970's on the film, "One Minute Before Death" (1972) and on an episode of "Bewitched' (1971).
Wanda then retired from acting and remarried for a third time, but this marriage too ended in divorce in 1980 and she passed away on February 1st, 1981 at the young age of fifty two after suffering from double pneumonia in Los Angeles. She never had any children of her own and is interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California.
