VAL KILMER BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Val Kilmer was born on December 31st, 1959 in Los Angeles, California wit h the birth name Val Edward Kilmer.  He as born to parents, Gladys and Eugene Kilmer and grew up in the San Fernando Valley with two brothers.  His parents divorced when he was nine years old and at the age of thirteen he first began auditioning for commercials.   
 
After graduating from Chatsworth High School he went on to study acting at Hollywood's Professional School and even was accepted to Julliard's drama program, being at that time the youngest person at the age of seventeen to be admitted to the school.  He then began first working as a stage actor and after some experience began getting involved in films.
 
His film debut was in 1984 in he film, "Top Secret!", followed by roles in such films as, "Top Gun" (1986) starring alongside Tom Cruise, "Real Genius" (1985) and the film that gained a large amount of attention, "The Doors" (1991) portraying rock singer Jim Morrison.  Other popular films he has appeared in are, "True Romance" (1993), "Tombstone" (1993) starring Kurt Russell and Sam Elliott, "Batman" (1995) also starring Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carrey, "Heat" (1995), "Alexander" (2004), "Déjà Vu" (2006), "Felon" (2008), "Streets of Blood" (2009), "The Traveler" (2010) and soon to release, "The First Ride of Wyatt Earp" (2012).
 
Along with working as an actor he has also worked on the other side of the industry as a co author for the play, "How it All Began" in 1981.  Kilmer also published a book of his poems, My Edens After Burns.  He is also well known for the voice over work of KITT in the series, "Knight Rider".  Since 2010 he has been working on a screenplay he wrote about the life of Mary Baker Eddy. 
 
Kilmer has married only one time to Joanne Whalley in 1988 and they had two children together before the marriage ended in 1996.  Although his professional life has been quite successful he has had some personal issues in the industry.  He has a very known hatred to Tom Cruise who he claims made sexual advances towards him on the set of "Top Gun".  He is also known within the movie industry to be very difficult to work with. 
 
He owns a large ranch in New Mexico and remains working in Los Angeles, California.
