TIMOTHY CAREY BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Timothy Carey was born on March 11th, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York with the birth name Timothy William Carey. After high school he went on to acting school and upon completing his degree, Carey broke into the film industry in 1951 debuting on, "Ace in the Hole" starring Kirk Douglas, Jan Sterling, Porter Hall, Robert Arthur and Ray Teal, followed by an un-credited role on he film, "The Wild One" (1953) starring Marlon Brando, Mary Murphy, Lee Marvin, Jay C. Flippen, Hugh Sanders, Ray Teal, Will Wright, Peggy Maley, Robert Keith, John Doucette, Pat O'Malley, Gil Stratton, Harry Landers and John Brown.
Soon he was being cast in more prominent films such as, "East of Eden" (1955) starring Julie Harris, James Dean (in his first major screen role), Raymond Massey, Burl Ives, Richard Davalos and Jo Van Fleet, "The Killing" (1956) Sterling Hayden, Coleen Gray, Vince Edwards and Elisha Cook Jr., Marie Windsor, Jay C. Flippen, Joe Sawyer, Ted de Corsia and James Edwards, "Paths of Glory" (1957) starring Kirk Douglas, Ralph Meeker, Adolphe Menjou, Wayne Morris, Richard Anderson and George Macready, "Bayou" (1957) starring Peter Graves, Lita Milan, Douglas Fowley and Ed Nelson and "Poor White Trash" (1961) which was a remake of "Bayou" and the rising film to his stardom.
Now that he had caught the attention of Hollywood he began appearing on such feature films as, "One-Eyed Jacks" (1961) starring alongside Marlon Brando, Karl Malden, Slim Pickens, Katy Jurado, Pina Pellicer and Ben Johnson, "The World's Greatest Sinner" (1962), "Beach Blanket Bingo" (1965) starring Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello, John Ashley, Deborah Walley, Jody McCrea, Marta Kristen, Linda Evans, Harvey Lembeck and also cameos by Paul Lynde, Don Rickles and Buster Keaton, "Head" (1968), "The Conversation" (1974), "Minnie and Moskowitz" (1971), "The Killing of a Chinese Bookie" (1976) and his final film role was in 1986 on, "Echo Park".
Along with his film work he also added a number of television series credits to his resume such as, "The Untouchables", "Hopalong Cassidy", "Sheriff of Cochise", "Cowboy G-Men", "Mannix", "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", "The Outsiders", "Cowboy in Africa", "Daniel Boone', "It Takes a Thief", "McCloud", "Kung Fu", "Columbo", "Charlie's Angels" and "Baretta".
Timothy Carey then retired from the industry after appearing in the short, "Devil's Gas" (1990) and coached acting for the remaining years of his life. He passed away on May 11th, 1994 in Los Angeles, California after suffering from a stroke at the age of sixty five. He had six children with his only wife, by the name of Doris.
