Theresa Russell ACTOR

THERESA RUSSELL BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Theresa Russell was born on March 20th, 1957 in San Diego, California with the birth name Theresa Paup, born to Carole Platt and Jerry Russell Paup.  At the young age of twelve she was scouted by a photographer who suggested she become involved in modeling.  This lead Russell to dropping out of Burbank High School in order to pursue a career as a model and later an actress.

Russell went on to study the art of acting with the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and by the mid 1970's she had broken into the film industry with roles on such features as, "The Last Tycoon" (1976) starring alongside Robert De Niro, Tony Curtis, Robert Mitchum, Jack Nicholson, Donald Pleasence, Jeanne Moreau and Ingrid Boulting, "Straight Time" (1978) starring with Dustin Hoffman, Gary Busey, Harry Dean Stanton, M. Emmet Walsh and Kathy Bates, "Eureka" (1983) also starring Gene Hackman, Ed Lauter, Corin Redgrave, Jane Lapotaire, Joe Spinell, Rutger Hauer, Joe Pesci and Mickey Rourke, "Insignificance" (1985) set in 1954 with action that revolves around the interplay of four characters who represent iconic figures of the era, Marilyn Monroe, Joseph McCarthy, Joe DiMaggio and Albert Einstein called The Actress, The Senator, The Ballplayer, and The Professor, respectively, with most of the action taking place in a hotel room in New York City, and co-starring Tony Curtis, Gary Busey, Will Sampson, Richard Davidson, Patrick Kilpatrick and Michael Emil and "Track 29" (1988) with Gary Oldman, Christopher Lloyd, Colleen Camp, Sandra Bernhard and Seymour Cassel.

Although, Russell was getting work and working alongside other successful actors, she was not able to gain the stardom attention she was trying to achieve.  In 1987 she was featured in the film, "Black Widow" alongside Debra Winger, Sami Frey, Nicol Williamson, Rutanya, Terry O'Quinn, Diane Ladd, Leo Rossi, James Hong and Dennis Hopper, and another decent film role was in, "Cold Heaven" (1991) co-starring Mark Harmon and James Russo.

Russell has turned her focus on television work and since the 90's she has appeared on such series as, "Good vs Evil", "Nash Bridges", "Glory Days", "Law & Order: Criminal Intent", "American Heiress", "Fringe" and "Cold Case".

Russell has also appeared on a number of television movies such as, "Thicker Than Water" (1994) Jonathan Pryce, Robert Pugh and Catherine Neilson, a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train, "Once you Meet A Stranger" (1996) also starring Jacqueline Bisset, Mimi Kennedy, Richard Doyle, Nick Mancuso and Celeste Holm, "Chasing Alice" (2003) co-starring Sophie Winkleman, Magdalena Alexander, Shemar Moore, Niamh Wilson, Zack Ward, Ivana Milicevic and Tig Fong, "Blind Injustice" (2005) Jamie Luner, Josie Davis and James Thomas, a two-part television mini-series "Empire Falls" (2005) starring Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, Helen Hunt, Robin Wright, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ed Harris, Estelle Parsons, Dennis Farina and Danielle Panabaker and "Liz & Dick" (2012) biographical television film chronicling the relationship of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton starring Lindsay Lohan and Grant Bowler.

She married only once in 1986 to Nicolas Roeg and they had two children together before their marriage ended in divorce.

Most recently she has continued to work in the industry alternating between film and television work with her most recent appearances on the films, "1 Out of 7" (2011) starring with Bob Ball, Mika Boorem, Matthew Carey, Jesse D'Lane, Vivica A. Fox, Victoria Geil, Toby Hemingway, Tyler Hollowell and Kelly Kruger, "Rid of Me" (2011) with Katie O'Grady, John Keyser and Storm Large, "Born to Ride" (2011) with Casper Van Dien, Patrick Muldoon, Branscombe Richmond, Jack Maxwell and William Forsythe among many others, "A Winter Rose" (2012) also starring Kimberly Whalen, Taryn Manning, Billy Zane, Paul Sorvino and Robert Miano and currently in preproduction, "Borrowed Moments" (2013) with Jimmy Marriot and Autumn Federici.
