TERRY MOORE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Terry Moore was born on January 7th, 1929 in Los Angeles, California with the birth name Helen Luella Kofard. As a young girl she was already involved in the entertainment industry working as a model before she soon became involved in films. Her film debut was in 1940 at the age of eleven in, "Maryland".
Throughout the early 40's, Moore mostly worked in Radio such as on, "The Smiths of Hollywood". As her career progressed she first used her real name for crediting but as she got older she finally settled on changing her stage name to Terry Moore. She was soon signed to a acting contract with Columbia Pictures but they did loan her to RKO and it was with this Studio that one of her most memorable film roles came, "Mighty Joe Young" (1949) co-starring Robert Armstrong and Ben Johnson.
As her career progressed, Moore worked on a number of films and soon earned an Oscar nomination for her role in, "Come Back, Little Sheba" (1952) with Paramount Pictures and also appeared in "Beneath the 12-Mile Reef" (1953) starring alongside Robert Wagner, Peter Graves, Richard Boone and J. Carrol Naish, "Peyton Place" (1957). She continued to work and throughout her career she has appeared in over 77 feature films and has worked with some of Hollywood's leading male actors. She also was seen on the cover of Life Magazine and, "Hollywood's Sexy Tomboy".
Some of her television roles have been on NBC's, "Empire" (1962) and on, "Here's Hollywood", "The Virginian" (1966), "Bonanza" (1970), "Knight Rider" (1983), "Fantasy Island" (1983), "The Love Boat" (1980-1984) and "Murder, She Wrote" (1991). Her latest appearances are set to release 2011 in the films "Margarine Wars" and "Mansion of Blood".
Throughout her lifetime she has married a total of five times plus claims she is also the secret wife to the late billionaire, Howard Hughes. Even though she claims they were married off the coast of Mexico in 1949 and never divorced, she was given an undisclosed amount of his estate in 1984. As for her other marriages, her first marriage was in 1951 to Glenn Davis but this marriage only lasted two years. She then married Eugene McGrath in 1956 and they remained together until 1959. Her third marriage was to Stuart Warren Cramer III from 1959 through 1970 and together they had two children. When this marriage ended in divorce she chose to wed for a fourth time to Richard Carey for a short period in 1979. Her fifth time to marry was to Jerry Rivers in 1992 and they remained together until Rivers passed away in 2001.
At the age of 81 she still takes acting classes twice a week and as honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
