Sylvester Stallone ACTOR

Sylvestor Stallone was born on July 6th, 1946 in New York City, New York with the birth name Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone and became to be known as the 'Italian Stallion'.  His mother was Jackie and his father was Frank Stallone who worked as a hairdresser.  When his parents divorced he moved with his mother to Philadelphia.  He was expelled from 14 schools for antisocial and violent behavior before the age of 13.
After graduating from Montgomery Blair High School, Stallone attended the American College of Switzerland and the University of Miami on an athletic scholarship, earning a BA.
He began pursuit of a career in acting, but struggled initially getting cast in small parts on such films as the pornography, "The Party at Kitty and Stud's" (1970), "Klute" (1971) and "Bananas" (1971).  A decent break in his career came when he was cast in the film, "The Lord's of Flatbush" (1974) and "Death Race 2000" (1975).
Sylvestor also made a couple television appearances in his early career on such series as, "Kojak" and "Police Story" (both 1975).  He also made a name for himself as a screenwriter, when he wrote the script for the film, "Rocky" which earned ten Academy Award nominations and won the Best Picture Award of 1976.  He then wrote, "F.I.S.T" (1978), "Paradise Alley" (1978) and the sequel, "Rocky II" (1979) and later even a "Rocky III", however neither II or III were as successful as the first film.
As his career progressed Stallone starred in the films, "Nighthawks" (1981), "Victory" (1981), "First Blood" (1982), "Rambo First Blood: Part II" (1985), "Cobra" (1986), "Over the Top" (1987),"Tango and Cash' (1989), "Rocky V" (1990) and "Cliffhanger" (1993).
Stallone took on some new and challenging roles trying to get away from the persona many fans knew him as and took on a role in the film, "Cop Land" (1997) alongside Robert De Niro.  He also did some voice over work for the animated film, "Antz" (1998).
Some of his other film roles were in, "Driven" (2001), "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over" (2003), "Rocky Balboa" (2006) and "Rambo" (2008).  His latest appearances have been in the film, "The Expendables" (2010), "Zookeeper" (2011) and soon to release, "The Expendables 2" (2012).
Stallone has married three times with his first wife being Sasha Czack from 1974 through 1985 and they had two children together. He then married Brigatte Nielsen in 1985 and they were only together two years before this marriage came to an end.  His third and current wife is Jennifer Flavin whom he married in 1997 and they have three children and remain together today.
Stallone has received a number of honors throughout his career such as being ranked #92 in Empire magazines, "Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time" in 1997 and he was also listed as one of the top heroes of all time by the American Film Institute in 2003.  He was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Along with establishing a successful acting career he also formed his own nutrition company in 2004 called, InStone that produces protein pudding which is a testosterone booster and also published a book in 2005 titled, "Sly Moves: My Proven Program to Lose Weight, Build Strength, Gain Will Power, and Love Your Dream".
His career has been very successful, but he did turn down quite a few roles offered to him throughout his career that also turned out to be highly successful roles such as the role of, "Superman", the lead in, "Terminator" (1984), "Pretty Woman" and the lead in the film "Arthur" (1981) amongst others.
Stallone currently resides in Beverly Hills, California and continues to take on new and exciting roles as they come his way.
