SUSAN KOHNER BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Susan Kohner was born on November 11th, 1936 in Los Angeles, California with the birth name Susanna Kohner, born to Mexican actress, Lupita Tovar and film producer, Paul Kohner. Since she was born into a family already involved in show business, Kohner began to develop an interest at a young age in the industry.
Before the age of twenty, Kohner was appearing in such films as, "To Hell and Back" (1955) starring Audie Murphy as himself, "The Last Wagon" (1956), "Dino" (1957) and "The Gene Krupa Story" (1959) starring Sal Mineo. Soon she caught the attention of other more well known film producers and better film roles were being offered to her such as roles in, "Imitation of Life" (1959) for which she won an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress and also won herself a Golden Globe.
Some of her later roles in her career were, "All the Fine Young Cannibals" (1960) and such television series roles as, "Hong Kong", "Going My Way", "Temple Houston" and "Rawhide". Her final film appearance was in 1962 with a role in, "Freud: The Secret Passion".
Kohner married John Weitz in 1964 and chose to retire from the industry completely and focus on her family life. Together the couple had two children and remained married until he passed away on October 3rd, 2002.
