STEVE FORREST BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Steve Forrest was born on September 29th, 1924 in Huntsville, Texas with the birth name William Forrest Andrews. His older brother, Dana Andrews was also a working actor.
As his older brother was gaining recognition in the entertainment industry, Forrest was serving during World War II. When he completed his military service he went to visit his brother in Hollywood and began to show an interest in his brothers profession. He chose to enroll in College at the University of Los Angeles, California and then found work as a screenwriter as well as some minor regional theatre work.
Prior to serving during World War II he had some minor experience working as an extra in the film industry but now he was ready to follow fully in his brothers footsteps. He began with being cast in an MGM film called, "The Bad and the Beautiful" (1952) which lead to other roles such as, "Geisha" (1952), "I Love Melvin" (1953) and "So Big" (1953) For which he won the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year.
The majority of roles he took on were portraying the 'bad guy' however as time progressed he began being more selective about which roles he would take on. He also made a number of television appearances on such series as, "The Dupont Show with June Allyson" (1961), Playhouse 90" (1957) and "The Twilight Zone" (1963).
Most remember him for his role in 1975 on the television action series "S.W.A.T" playing Lieutenant Dan 'Hondo' Harrison. This role was again repeated in the film version "S.W.A.T" 2003 and was his final big screen appearance.
He married only one time to Christine Carilas on December 23rd, 1948 and they have three children together and remain married today.
