STEVE BRODIE BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Steve Brodie was born on November 25th, 1919 in El Dorado, Kansas with the birth name John Stephens. Throughout his career as an actor, he appeared in over 200 films and worked with a variety of studio's ranging from MGM, RKO and Republic.
Some of his more well known roles were in such features as, "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo" (1944) starring Spencer Tracy, "Out of the Past" (1947) starring Robert Mitchum and Jane Greer, "Desperate" (1947), "Code of the West" (1947), "Crossfire" (1947), "Armored Car Robbery" (1950), "Lady in the Iron Mask" (1952), "The Caine Mutiny" (1954) starring Humphrey Bogart, Van Johnson, Jose Ferrer and Fred MacMurray, "The Far Country" (1954) starring James Stewart, Ruth Roman, Corinne Calvet and Walter Brennan and "Roustabout" (1964) starring Elvis Presley and Barbara Stanwyck.
In addition to his numerous film roles he also added a number of television credits to his resume such as, "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "Pony Express", "The Brothers Brannagan", "Climax!", "The Is the Life", "The Silent Service", "Panic!", "21 Beacon Street", "Wanted Dead or Alive" starring Steve McQueen and "The Alaskans".
His career began to slow down during the mid 60's with less film roles coming his direction, therefore, the remainder of his career as an actor was mostly focused on television appearances.
Some of his latest roles included, "Police Woman" (1974-1978), "Police Story" (1974-1978), "CHiPS" (1978-1979) and "How the West Was Won" (1979). His final roles were in the films, "Frankenstein Island" (1981), "Delta Pi" (1985) and "The Wizard of Speed and Time" (1988).
Steve Brodie married three times throughout his lifetime. His first wife was Lois Andrews whom he wed in 1946 and they had two children before the marriage ended in divorce in 1950. He then married Barbara Stillwell in 1950 and they had one child together until by 1966, another marriage had cone to an end. His third wife was Virginia Osburn whom he married in 1973 and they were together until he passed away on January 9th, 1992 in West Hills, California from cancer.
