SEBASTIAN CABOT BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Sebastian Cabot was born on July 6th, 1918 in London, England with the birth name Charles Sebastian Thomas Cabot. When his fathers business suffered financial hardship, he dropped out of school at the age of fourteen and found a number of different jobs to help support his family.
Cabot worked as a garage mechanic, a chef, a professional wrestler in London before World War II and before getting involved in the entertainment industry, he was a chauffeur to a British actor, Frank Pettingell.
He began working in the entertainment industry in the mid 30's with bit parts on such films as, "Foreign Affaires" (1935), "Secret Agent" (1936), "Love on Dole" and "Pimpernel Smith" (both 1941).
During World War II he entertained the troops and directly following the end of the war, Cabot made his London stage debut in 1945 in a production of, "A Bell for Adano". He then relocated to Hollywood and began working on American made films such as, "Third Time Lucky" (1949), "The Spider and the Fly" (1949), "Jungle Treasure" (1951) and "Babes in Baghdad" (1952).
Along with film work, Cabot also did a number of voice over projects such as the voice of Noah in the biblical musical play, "The Flood" (1962) and for Walt Disney's animated films, "Jungle Book" (1967), "The Sword in the Stone" (1963) and two Winnie the Pooh films, "Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day" (1968) and "Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree" (1966).
Cabot also appeared on a number of television shows such as, "The Beachcomber", "The Twilight Zone", "Checkmate", "Bonanza" and his most remembered role as, Giles French on the sitcom, "Family Affair" which aired on CBS.
Cabot married only once in 1940 and remained with his one and only wife, Kay till his passing at the age of fifty nine on August 22nd, 1977 in North Saanich, British Columbia after suffering from a stroke and having three children, Annette, Yvonne and Christopher. He is interred at Pierce Brothers Westwood Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California.
