SCOTT GLENN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Scott Glenn was born on January 26th, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with the birth name Theodore Scott Glenn, born to Elizabeth and Theodore Glenn. As a young child he was quite ill but overcame his illness, earned a high school diploma and went on to study at William and Mary College earning a degree in English.
Glenn then joined the United States Marines and upon completing his service to his country, he found work as a criminal reporter at the Kenosha evening news. He eventually decided to study the art of acting and traveled to New York City where he became a member of the George Morrison acting class.
Glenn began gaining experience as a stage director and performer. He also joined The Actors Studio and continued his stage work while auditioning for film and television. In 1970, he debuted in his first film, "The Baby Maker" starring Barbara Hershey, Collin Wilcox Paxton, Sam Groom and Phyllis Coates.
Now with quite a bit of experience on his resume he made the move to Hollywood and searched for work in the industry. Times were tough for him, and he was not being offered roles he had hoped for. He did get a chance to appear on a couple small roles on the television series, "The Patty Duke Show", "Emergency!", "Sixth Sense" and "Ironside", however, still not pleased with his experiences in Hollywood, Glenn relocated to Ketchum, Idaho.
He did a little stage work, but mostly was out of the industry for two years and instead made a living as a mountain ranger and huntsman, before once again being offered a role in a film he could not pass up, "Urban Cowboy" (1980) starring John Travolta, Debra Winger, Barry Corbin, Cooper Huckabee, James Gammon and Madolyn Smith.
With this role, his career finally began to take off. He was now being recognized in the industry as a talented actor and along with his skilled acting and physical strength, he proved to Hollywood that he was capable of being at the top.
Soon he was working consistently appearing in such films as, "The Challenge" (1982) with ToshirÅ Mifune and Calvin Jung, "The Right Stuff" (1983) co-starring Ed Harris, Fred Ward, Dennis Quaid, Barbara Hershey, Jeff Goldblum, Veronica Cartwright, Lance Henricksen, Harry Shearer, Kim Stanley, John Dehner, Kathy Baker, Jane Dornacker, Royal Dano and Sam Shepard, "The River" (1984) starring Mel Gibson, Sissy Spacek and Billy Green Bush, "Silverado" (1985) co-starring Kevin Kline, Danny Glover, Kevin Costner, John Cleese, Rosanna Arquette, Jeff Fahey, Thomas Wilson Brown, James Gammon, Sheb Wooley, Linda Hunt, Jeff Goldblum and Brian Dennehy, "The Hunt for Red October" (1990) starring Sean Connery, Alec Baldwin, James Earl Jones, Courtney Vance, Sam Neill, Richard Jordan, Tim Curry and Fred Thompson, "The Silence of the Lambs" (1991) starring Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, Ted Levine, Brooke Smith, Anthony Heald and Diane Baker, "Backdraft" (1991) starring with Rebecca De Mornay, Robert De Niro, William Baldwin, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Donald Sutherland and "Reckless" (1995) also starring Mia Farrow, Mary-Louise Parker, Tony Goldwyn and Eileen Brennan.
Glenn, now highly desired and highly respected in the industry continued to add film and television roles to his resume. Scott Glenn is currently married to his only wife, Carol Schwartz since 1968 and they have two children together. He continues to work as an actor with some of his more recent appearances being in the films, "Sucker Punch" (2011) starring Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung and Carla Gugino, "The Paperboy" (2012) starring Matthew McConaughey, Zac Efron, John Cusack and Nicole Kidman, "The Bourne Legacy" (2012) starring Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Joan Allen, Albert Finney, Stacy Keach and Edward Norton and soon to release in 2013, "Red Machine" co-starring James Marsden, Tom Jane, Piper Perabo, Billy Bob Thornton and Adam Beach.
