RYAN O'NEAL BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Ryan O'Neal was born on April 20th, 1941 in Los Angeles, California with the birth name Charles Patrick Ryan O'Neal, born to parents Patricia O'Neal and Charles, an author and screenwriter. As a teenager he was very involved in boxing and was even a Golden Glove boxer who had a decent amateur boxing record. He graduated from Munich American High School in Germany in 1959. That same year he got his first acting job in a series called, "Tales of the Vikings". He then began working in the entertainment industry as a stand in and as a stunt man.
O'Neal is most well known for his role between 1964 and 1966 on the ABC soap opera, "Peyton Place" as well as in the feature films, "Paper Moon" (1973), "A Bridge Too Far" (1977) and "Love Story" (1970) for which he was honored with an Academy Award and Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor.
Throughout his career he made a number of other television appearances on such series as, "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis", "Bachelor Father", "Leave it to Beaver", "Westinghouse Playhouse", "Wagon Train", "Two Faces West" and had a recurring role on the NBC series, "Empire".
O'Neal also had a decent film resume starring in such films as, "What's Up, Doc? " (1972), "Nickelodeon" (1976), "Barry Lyndon" (1975), "Oliver's Story" (1978) and "The Driver" (1978).
As his career progressed into the late 70's, roles were becoming less available to him. However, he still managed to work on such films as, "Irreconcilable Differences" (1984) and starred on the television series, "Good Sports" (1991).
Ryan has married twice, first to Joanna Moore from April 3rd, 1963 through February 1967 and they had two children together, Tatum and Griffin. He then married Leigh Taylor-Young in 1967 and they also had one child together, Patrick O'Neal who also grew up to pursue a career as an actor. This marriage ended in 1974. O'Neal also lived with actress, Farrah Fawcett between 1980 and 1997 and they have a son together named Redmond O'Neal.
O'Neal was diagnosed with leukemia in 2001, but is currently in remission as of 2006. In 2001, after he was diagnosed with leukemia he and Farrah Fawcett reconciled their relationship and remained together until she passed away in 2009.
In 2007, O'Neal was arrested after being accused of assaulting his son, Griffin in Malibu, California, however the charges were dropped.
